McGuire Robert Kuo Cloud Lamp 24K Repousse Sofield Baker Asian

McGuire Furniture Robert Kuo 24k Gold over Repousse Cloud Lamps

Possessing true heirloom quality, these two (2) exquisite McGuire Furniture Robert Kuo Cloud Lamps are 24K gold over copper repousse.  Hand-produced in a number of finishes over copper repousse (silver plate, black), these museum-worthy lamps are the rare and more valuable 24K gold plate version.

Extracted from McGuire marketing materials:

Using elaborate, copper repousse craftsmanship, a traditional technique of hand-hammering decorative relief into sheet metal that dates back to 800 B.C.,  further enhanced with 24K gold plate, this lamp displays a stunning relief texture. The swirling cloud pattern draws from traditional Chinese carvings and art, yet projects a decidedly contemporary feel. The egg-shaped finial appropriately matches the oval base and shade.

  • 24K Gold Plate base paired with original Ivory Linen shade.
  • Height: (U.S.) 30″; (Metric) 76.2 cm

About Robert Kuo, excerpted from Baker Furniture and McGuire Furniture, and Stracka Interiors sites:

  • “His fresh interpretation of early Eastern forms results in artwork that is unquestionably contemporary in nature, but with a birthright that goes back many centuries.”
  • His cloissone “Goldfish Bowl was purchased by Robert Clague (prominent cloisonné collector and benefactor of the Museum) for the Smithsonian Sackler Freer Gallery.”
